Lori is building the cutting-edge logistics infrastructure for trucking in Africa. The start-up is tackling a massive issue - $180 billion is spent annually on haulage across Africa, which means that up to 75% of a product’s cost is due to logistics compared to 6% in the US).

Lori’s tech-enabled and operations-driven marketplace efficiently connects transport to cargo. The supply chain mgmt system brings transparency and has pushed significantly improved flexibility, reliability, and cost savings (savings upwards of 15%). The company has experienced a 30% month over month compounded growth since product launch in May 2017.

The market demand for Lori’s platform is increasing exponentially. To continue driving its pace of growth, Lori recently closed a landmark raise from globally leading institutional and strategic investors. The company won TechCrunch’s Battlefield Africa.

The Position

Lori is looking for a Full Stack Developer who will take a key role on our team. Our Full Stack developer must have knowledge in all stages of software development.  You will be working alongside other engineers and developers, collaborating on the various layers of the infrastructure for our platform

What you will do

  • Work with the Tech lead to iterate the Lori platform and app
  • Meet deadlines; execute on commitments
  • Manage priorities; the role requires the developer to alternate between fixing bugs and building the platform on a strategic basis
  • Be flexible and work independently in a constantly shifting environment

What you bring to the table

  • College degree in engineering or scientific disciplines, or equivalent experience
  • Strong skills in Python, JavaScript and relational databases (preferably PostgreSQL)
  • Demonstrable competence in algorithms/data structures as well as ability to write clean, wellarchitected code
  • Experience with Cloud Platforms, particularly AWS
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with Product team
  • No job is too small’ attitude; willingness to put in extra hours when needed

Preferred Experience

  • Django web framework (or other Python-based alternatives such as Flask)
  • Java/Android development
  • Experience developing HTTP APIs
  • Familiarity with logistics industry
