The Position

Lori is seeking an Accountant who will work directly with the Uganda Country Manager on a wide range of business-critical financial reporting, budgeting, and management activities to achieve the strategic goals of Lori Systems through creating, implementing, and monitoring financial, accounting, and audit systems and processes within the business. The Accountants role will encompass the following major areas of responsibilities under Lori Systems Uganda:

  1. General Accounting Responsibilities

  2. Procurement

  3. Financial Management

  4. General Corporate Responsibilities and Regulatory Affairs


General Accounting Responsibilities

  • Produce and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, financial reports, cash flow statements, bank reconciliation, and ad hoc analyses as requested by the Uganda Country Manager

  • Manage payroll process and submit monthly and annual employee taxes in accordance with the deadlines

  • Lead the monthly and annual corporate audit and tax filing process, ensuring accurate representation of financial information, meeting Ugandan and international reporting standards and deadlines

  • Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process

  • Manage working capital requirements, including overseeing the collection of receivables from customers and deciding on how to make timely supplier payments

  • Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures

  • Input, track, and manage vendor invoices and payroll payments in Company determined accounting platform(s)

  • Oversee bank and mpesa accounts and day to day communication with banks and other financial institutions

  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities within the Company

  • Continuously review and improve general company financial, accounting, and auditing processes to uphold the Company standards

  • Oversee the petty cash management process

Financial Management

  • Lead the planning, development, and implementation of financial forecasts and budgets

  • Manage QuickBooks to effectively record financial information and transactions 

  • Create and update annually accounting, audit, finance, and tax handbooks

  • Lead relevant financial training’s for each position within the finance department and manage the performance of each finance team member

  • Analyze and advise on business operations including revenue and expenditure trends, financial commitments and future revenues

  • Manage an ongoing cash flow


  • Identify procurement partners and negotiate pricing to receive the lowest pricing for the Company

  • Maintain asset database and oversee the management of assets in Uganda

  • Support in rent negotiations and manage the rent payment process for Uganda office

  • Facilitate the procurement process and implement a vendor management system to derive meaningful cost savings

General Corporate Responsibilities and Regulatory Affairs

  • Support maintenance of up-to-date business permits and licenses and obtaining any necessary new licenses, permits, or certifications for compliance
